December has been a busy month for our FVFAC members already, and not just by helping Santa navigate the roads in Fallston!

On December 1st at the Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers game at M & T Bank Stadium, our own Ed Benesch was honored by the Baltimore Ravens organization for his years of volunteer service to the citizens of Fallston, Harford County, and the State of Maryland as a recipient of the Community Quarterback Award. The Baltimore Ravens have teamed up with T. Rowe Price and the National Football League to honor exceptional Maryland volunteers who devote their time to strengthening our communities.

Supported by the Ravens Foundation, Inc., T. Rowe Price and the NFL Foundation, the award recognizes individuals who exemplify leadership, dedication and commitment to improving the communities in which they live.

Congratulations Ed !! And THANK YOU for all that you do !! Ed was presented with a financial grant by the Baltimore Ravens in the amount of $2500 to benefit the FVFAC !!!
THANK YOU Baltimore Ravens!!

At the December FVFAC general membership meeting on December 2nd, Mr. Mike Waid, President of the Hogs and Heroes Foundation (MD 2) presented the FVFAC with a donation of $500 from a recent fundraising event held by the local chapter of Hogs and Heroes....THANK YOU to Mike and his entire organization!!!

Our mission in the community is dynamic and ever changing. Not only are we the first responders to fire, EMS, rescue, and hazardous materials incidents, our VOLUNTEER members are now receiving training in the response to active assailant incidents. Several members of the FVFAC attended a two day course in Tactical Emergency Casualty Care at the University of Maryland-Maryland Fire and Rescue facility at College Park, MD. December 3-4. Interestingly, 4 of the 6 instructors for this class are Harford County fire, EMS, or law enforcement personnel. The group of students from FVFAC attending represented 40% of the class!

Today, December 7th, as the country remembers the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country at Pearl Harbor in 1941, FVFAC members attended the Wreaths for Fallen Heroes ceremonies at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. Among the Heroes honored today were Baltimore County Police Officer and Fallston resident Amy Caprio, and Howard County Fire Lieutenant Nathan "Nate" Flynn who was also a member of the Susquehanna Hose Company. Along with the members of the Bel Air VFC, FVFAC members were honored to be asked to take part in the flag arch at the entrance to the cemetery, the reading of the names remembrance of fire, EMS, and law enforcement personnel (by FVFAC Sgt. Jayden Edwards), and the laying of the wreaths (by FVFAC President Chris Gibbons and BAVFC members Gary Kadolph and Kevin Kadolph). This event was coordinated and hosted through the Police Emerald Society of Baltimore and Metropolitan Baltimore Fire Emerald Society.
