Just after 1500 hours (3 P.M.) on June 4, 2021 Harford County 9-1-1 received a call reporting a residential structure fire in the 2700 block of Lawson Road in Fallston. Harford DES Fire Dispatch alerted a first alarm assignment which brought units from the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Co (FVFAC), Jarrettsville VFC, Bel Air VFC, and Norrisville VFC. First arriving units reported fire showing from the attached garage and smoke visible from the single story dwelling. A “Working Fire” was declared which resulted in additional units from Jarrettsville VFC, Bel Air VFC, Jacksonville VFC. and the Hereford VFC being dispatched. Initial arriving fire crews began a transitional fire attack, whereby as much visible fire as possible was extinguished immediately from the exterior of the structure, and then crews entered the building to complete fire extinguishment.
The fire was placed under control in approximately 15 minutes, with crews staying on scene until approximately 1800 hours (6 P.M.) for final overhaul and to assist the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) investigators. The cause and origin of the fire are undetermined as of this time. Total structure and property loss is estimated at $150,000.00.
There were no injuries to the occupants of the dwelling, who were at home and self evacuated prior to fire department arrival, or to emergency responders reported. Two dogs at the residence sustained smoke inhalation and were transported to a local emergency veterinarian.
