John E. Wilson Sr.
February 17, 1930- July 17, 2016
John was a Life Member of the Fallston VFAC, serving the Greater Fallston community for nearly 40 years in several capacities including as our Emergency Medical Services Captain and was a member of the Apparatus Committee in 1996 which replaced five major Fire and EMS units at one time. John was also proud to be a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Throughout his time as an active member of FVFAC John always relished his role as a primary ambulance driver and fire apparatus operator who could be depended upon by our members 24/7 to be there for the citizens of the Fallston area. In the twenty years between 1992 and 2011 John received credit for over 2000 emergency responses and in station standbys, and regularly placed on the list of Fire and/or EMS Top Ten Responders each year. In his later years John’s daily presence could be counted on at the station to insure that the coffee was made, the discussions were lively, and that our new members understood what to expect of the Fire Service and particularly the FVFAC. John’s example to serve others in the community is evident as his daughter Janet von Bank is a member of the Bel Air VFC and grandson Pete von Bank serves as a member of the Abingdon VFC.
John was the beloved husband of the late Rita Lillian Wilson; devoted father of John E. Wilson, Jr., and Janet Lee von Bank. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by his brother Frank Wilson.
